Here is one more site on how to save a dying plant if you feel the problem is severe. I have used this technique a pot and it works. I also keep plants on pebbles in the winter months to Make sure drainage is good and to supply more humidity to the plant

Pepper plants will loose a few leaves in the winter. But it also may be a watering problem: too much or not enough. Check the stem of the plant and see how it looks, If its green and healthy its a small problem. If its turning brown it's a big problem. Here is an article that may help.

We have a Dutch Hot pepper plant in our office which is losing it's leaves. Is this normal or did we kill it?
Please help, my boss actually cooks with these peppers and loves the plant.
Thanks,
Karen

I didn't know about hardening off seedling plants. I just tried to plant them on cloudy days and hoped it would work. Sandy
