Gardener’s Rake tip of the week

At this time of the year there always seems to be a lot of cleaning up to do. Picking up stick, trimming bushes, raking leaves… the list goes on.

I have found that the fastest way to clean up the mess is to use a sheet and toss or rake all the debris on the sheet then drag the sheet to the compost pile or burn pile.

The sheet method saves on gas for a mower and wagon and the use of a wheelbarrow, which is handy but sometimes wants to tip over or get stuck in ruts.

The sheet is easy to use and store. I buy them at garage sales for 10 to 50 cents and use them until the fall apart. I have found that the fitted sheet works the best and it wraps around the debris and you can use the corners to pull with.
