Community Garden Contest / Victory Garden contest begins

Welcome to The Gardener’s Rake “Victory and Community Garden 2008 spring contest.”

There are actually two contests and they are very simple to participate in. The reason for these contests is to encourage Victory Gardens and hopefully see more Community Gardens set up in towns and cities.

During the contest check in regularly to see information on both gardens which will tell you how to set one up, a little about the their history and why they are important.

The contest will run for two weeks starting Monday February 4 and finish Monday February 18. Rules are listed below. The contest is open to any country where I can send seeds through the mail.

Contest #1 – Victory Garden Contest

Please submit a gardening tip. It can be for anything related to gardening from taking care of tools to planting tips for indoor or outdoor plants. The only thing is that there are a lot of gardening tips so I suggest taking time and find a tip that you have either used yourself or research for a unique tip.

Send your submissions to: victorycontest@thegardenersrake.com

Include your name and an email address. The email address will be verified for accuracy. If you win you will also need to send me your mailing address. All information is kept confidential.

Contest #2 – Community Garden Contest

Please submit a piece of garden trivia or garden history. Please note: If you use a specific site that has a copyright I will need this information. If the submission is in your own words it should not be necessary. This is very important.

Prizes

Every participant is a winner! Anyone who sends in a garden tip, trivia, or garden history will receive a copy of the information in an email in PDF form. There should be very useful gardening information that will benefit any gardener.

Victory Garden Contest: 20 packets of fresh garden seeds, enough seeds to be able to create a Victory Garden and supply fresh food to your table. A few flower packets will be included. There is also a canvas Garden Carrier which folds out and is wonderful for gathering crops and even flowers.

Community Garden Contest: 20 packets of fresh garden seeds, one gardening book, and several gardening hand tools.

Good luck! Denise
