Earth Day 2008 – Join the Earth Day Celebration

Our earth is and amazing place, beauty and natural wonders everywhere.

Earth Day facts: More than 20 million people participated in the first Earth Day in 1970. It was inaugurated after United States Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin called for an Environmental Teach-in Day to be held on April 22, 1970. More than 500 million people in 175 countries now celebrate it each year.

Celebrate Earth Day by planting a plant tree or shrub, picking up trash and starting a new recycling plan.

Do you have a plan to help our earth today? Each person who plants a tree or picks up trash makes a big difference.

    I celebrated Earth day by picking up the trash on my road yesterday. It’s a busy road so I collected 20 bags of trash.
    I also planted several trees and picked up annual flowers for my mother, which I will plant later today. Happy Earth day! Denise

    I’m not a great believer in “one day events” – I find myself picking up rubbish all the time! I do think it is vital though that people who pay no attention to the planet do at least give it some thought once a year!! Imaging if everyone on the planet planted something today!

    I like this blog! Of course I tend to like green stuff. Earth day is a day off for the electricity in our home. Just like Earth hour, I’ve turned off literally everything but the laptop and my cell phone. No laundry, no shopping, no driving (except to my son’s school 5 miles from here). I really try to do my part every day and just treat this one like a birthday, a simple reminder to do better. Have a great day!

    I am with Mark, I practice random acts of kindness to the earth each day when we are walking on the beach, to keep the beach and sea free of junk,

    Mark, I agree with you . We should all pick up trash and take care of our environment everyday. Earth Day just reminds us of things we could do. I like the idea of eveyone planting one thing today. That would be amazing.
